This month btv starts a joint project with the “Frauenhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics”, the “Institute for Production Systems” at the TU Dortmund University and the “Institute for Research and Transfer”.
The technology experts are working together as part of a competence center funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics. The initiative drives research and implementation projects for the digitalization of smart logistics and the value network for medium-sized companies.
Project content is the consolidation of customer requirements (delivery call-offs), warehouse stocks, production capacities and disposition figures. In terms of Big Data Analytics, a transparent forecast model is to be created from the complex data structure.
The aim of the project, which is scheduled to run until mid-2017, is to smooth production and logistics processes and reduce inventories.
